Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta

The Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, officially known as the main stadium of the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, is one of the largest and most iconic stadiums in Southeast Asia. Located in the heart of Jakarta, it serves as a central hub for major sports events, concerts, and national ceremonies.

Originally built in 1962 for the Asian Games 1962, the stadium reflects Indonesia’s ambition and pride during the era of Sukarno, after whom it is named. The structure features a distinctive circular design with a massive roof known as the “Temu Gelang,” which provides shade and protection for spectators.

With a seating capacity of more than 77,000 after its renovation for the Asian Games 2018, the stadium is equipped with modern facilities, including advanced lighting systems, comfortable seating, and improved accessibility. It is primarily used for football matches and is the home venue for Indonesia’s national team, but it also hosts large-scale concerts and international events.

Surrounded by lush green spaces and additional sports facilities, Gelora Bung Karno Stadium stands as a symbol of national pride, unity, and Indonesia’s passion for sports and global events.
